Remove Bing from Internet Explorer (Restore Home)

You want a different search engine or homepage. Most likely, Microsoft Bing is now set as the default search engine and -or MSN.com as the homepage.

It is relatively simple to convert BING to a different search engine or homepage. Microsoft would of course prefer that you continue to use BING, but we Europeans are more inclined towards Google.

Personally, I also find Google easier to use and simpler looking than Bing's busy homepage. However, this is personal.

Note: If you are still using Internet Explorer, I recommend that you Google Chrome of Firefox to use.

Internet Explorer is no longer supported by Microsoft!

  1. Addition to my previous response, which I can't get on screen now: when I click on IE in the status bar, a Google page opens, but each 'New tab' is one from Bing.

    1. Hello Suus,
If I understand correctly you are using IE (Internet Explorer)? Is there a specific reason for this? Otherwise, I strongly recommend using Microsoft Edge. Internet Explorer is barely supported by Microsoft and has too many problems to prevent worse.
This is not the solution to your problem with Bing, but IE is no longer an option, unfortunately.

  2. Dear, I have already performed what is described above and elsewhere three times, but every time I want to set Google as the default search engine, the message appears on the line above http://www.google.be Bing's. I can't get rid of that damned Bing. Just before that I did a (I don't remember what it was called, kind of 'restoration') of IE because it had been crashing sometimes lately. When I click 'add to IE' https://www.microsoft.com/nl-nl/iegallery the message 'This search engine is already installed' appears and I therefore do not get the option 'Set as default search engine'. I thought about removing Google from 'Programs and Features' in Control Panel and reinstalling it, but I can't find it there. Do you know a solution?
