Instagram two-step verification, also known as (“2FA”) is a security feature that adds an extra layer of protection to your Instagram account.

You can now enable two types of two-step verification. The first is via a verification app. This is an app that can generate registration codes. However, this requires an app, for example “Apple passwords”, “Authy”, “Google authenticator”.
You will then first need to set up the app by providing a secret key, often a QR code provided by Instagram you are trying to access. Once set up, the app will generate a new code every so often (e.g. every 30 seconds) that can be used to log in to Instagram. A code is only valid for a short time and is unique for each login attempt, making it more secure than using a fixed password.
The second type of two-step verification is an SMS code. To do this, you must first provide your telephone number. This telephone number is then checked and an SMS code is sent. Every time you want to log in to Instagram you will receive an SMS code that you must enter. After checking the SMS code, you will then be logged in to Instagram.
