In some cases, a newly paired Bluetooth mouse does not work immediately in Windows. The Bluetooth connection is there but the mouse does not seem to work.
The first thing you should try is to restart the computer the mouse is connected to. A restart of the computer restores certain computer processes and connections. After a restart, try to pair the Bluetooth mouse again and check whether the mouse now works.
If the Bluetooth connected mouse still does not work, check the following. Make sure Bluetooth mouse is fully charged. Also check the batteries in the mouse. For example, check whether the batteries are fully charged and that they are actually properly inserted in the mouse. Also check that the distance from the mouse to your computer is not too far. Also check whether the Bluetooth mouse works on another computer. Are there no lights on the mouse and does it not work on another computer? Then you may have a broken mouse. Do the lights work? Then read on.
If you are still having problems with the Bluetooth connection and your mouse, follow the steps in this article.
Bluetooth mouse does not work
Turn Bluetooth off and on
Turning Bluetooth off and on will require devices connected to your computer via Bluetooth to reconnect.
In the Windows search bar type: Bluetooth. Then click on Bluetooth and other device settings.
Then click on the blue slider to turn off Bluetooth. Wait 1 minute and click the slider again to re-enable Bluetooth.
Turn airplane mode on or off in Windows
This is a tip I heard from people who experienced a problem with paired Bluetooth devices. Turning Airplane Mode on and off in Windows restores certain connections. Apparently turning airplane mode on and off helps.
In the Windows Action Center. You will find Action Center right next to the time and date in the Windows notification area. Click on it and click expand. Then click on airplane mode and wait 1 minute. Then switch off airplane mode again.
Bluetooth troubleshooter
Windows includes several tools to help you troubleshoot problems in Windows. One of these problem solvers is the Bluetooth troubleshooter.
In the Windows search bar type: Bluetooth problem. Then click on the Detect and fix Bluetooth device problems.
The Bluetooth troubleshooter in Windows will now start. Follow all the steps and Windows will automatically solve any problems in Windows with Bluetooth devices for you.
Remove mouse and reinstall
If nothing has worked then the best thing you can do is uninstall the mouse device from Windows and reinstall it. Windows will then reinstall all associated drivers when you add the mouse back.
In the Windows search bar type: Control Panel. Click on the control panel result.
In the top right corner, change the “view by:” setting to Category. Then click Show devices and printers.
In the Devices category you will find your installed Bluetooth mouse. Right-click on the Mouse and click Remove Device.
You now need to reinstall the Bluetooth mouse in Windows. In the top left corner, click the button: Add a device. Follow the instructions and Windows will reinstall your Bluetooth mouse. Keep any drivers on CD/DVD/USB at hand or download them from the Internet.
