If you recently macOS Sonoma installed, you will notice that as soon as you click on the desktop all open windows will be hidden.

This is the new “Click the background to show the desktop” feature in macOS Sonoma. Clicking on the background moves all active windows aside and gives you access to desktop items and widgets.

This is how you can disable desktop clicking.

  • Open the system settings.
  • Click on “Desktop and Dock”.
  • Change “Click background to show desktop” to “Only in Stage Manager”.
