The WhatsApp messaging app offers several ways to format your text message. It is one of the best and possibly most unknown feature you can find in WhatsApp, which other messaging apps don't have.

There are certain tricks you can use to format the text. WhatsApp has some built-in features that you can use to change the font.

To use these fonts you do not need to install any other apps on your phone or tablet. These fonts are standard in the WhatsApp messaging app and you can use the following in any new or existing conversation.

Whatsapp Font Tricks You Might Not Know

Bold font

To send a bold message in WhatsApp, place a * in front of the message. Start with a * and end the word or sentence you want to send in bold with a *. Here is an example.

Italic font

To send an italic message in WhatsApp, place a _ (low line) in front of the message. Start with a _ and end the word or sentence you want to send in italics with a _. Here is an example.

Strikethrough font

To send a strikethrough font message in WhatsApp, prefix the message with a ~ (tilde). Start with a ~ and end the word or sentence you want to send crossed out with a ~. Here is an example.

Monospace font

To a monospace font To send a message in Whatsapp, place three grave accents in front of the message. Start with three grave accents and end the word or sentence you want to send monospace with three grave accents. Here is an example.

You can apply a grave accent on iPhone by clicking the 123 button and then holding the ('), select the first grave accent (`).

Combination of font

If you want to send a combination of the above font you can do so in the following way. See the example in the image below. For example, if you want to apply a bold font to a message that is italicized, place a *_ and end with _*
