Enable or disable app archiving in Windows 11

Stefan

Windows has a new feature called Archive Apps that automatically archives apps you rarely use to save storage space and internet bandwidth.

This feature is enabled by default in Windows 11. When enabled, it saves and archives your files and other data. The next time you try to use an archived app, it will leave the archived state and reconnect to the Internet to download and restore the latest version.

To enable or disable App Archiving, you need to open Windows settings. Right-click on the Windows start button. Click on Settings in the menu.

Click on Apps in the menu on the left. Then click on Apps & features.

Then first click on More settings and then on Archive apps.

Then change the settings to disable or enable App Archiving.

To save storage space and bandwidth, apps that you don't use often are automatically archived. Your files and other data are stored. The next time you use an archived app, it will connect to the Internet to restore the full version (if it's still available).
