Ever bothered by those annoying audios and/or videos that automatically play in your browser when you visit a web page? This is a common problem with Microsoft Edge and can be quite annoying, especially if you are visiting a website that you want to pay attention to.
Although Microsoft Edge is a popular browser among Windows 10 and 11, the Autoplay feature can be quite disruptive for those who visit websites for study or work.
While some users don't mind videos auto-playing while browsing the web (mostly ads), most users find it disturbing.
The good news is that you can disable the AutoPlay feature in Microsoft Edge and it will stop automatically playing videos or audio until you turn them back on.
Disable autoplay videos in Microsoft Edge
This method will help you limit the AutoPlay function, if you do not want to stop the function completely. Restricting the Autoplay feature will only mute the sound of the autoplaying video, meaning the video will still autoplay on your Edge browser, but without the sound. The video with sound will only play when you activate the tab.
Follow the instructions below to restrict the Autoplay feature in your Microsoft Edge browser and prevent the sound of the video from playing automatically.
Open the Microsoft Edge browser. Click on the menu at the top right, in the menu click on Settings. Click on “Cookies and site permissions” on the left, navigate all the way down and click on “Autoplay media”.
Change the setting: Set whether to automatically play audio and video on websites to “Restrict”.
If you want to allow websites, change the above settings to “Allow”. You can optionally add exceptions for certain websites by clicking “Add” and entering the URL.
I hope this helped you. Thank you for reading!
