In Windows 11, an improved feature is available via task management, called “efficiency mode”. Efficiency mode is not entirely new, in Windows 10 this feature was called eco mode.
Efficiency mode provides improved efficiency for specific processes. If you have a process in Windows 11 high CPU and memory consumed then you can change this process to efficiency mode via task manager and then the process priority will be reduced and the energy efficiency will be improved.
In this way, a priority is given to other processes, which ensures that the process that is in efficiency mode is given less priority and the overall computer functions better. That's the idea of efficiency mode.
Enable or disable efficiency mode in Windows 11
To be able to change an app in efficiency mode, you will need a insider preview version of Windows 11 necessary. It is not entirely certain at the moment whether efficiency mode will also come to an official one version of Windows 11 will come, but this is the expectation.
Right-click on the Start button. Click on task manager in the menu. In the task manager, find the process you want to change to efficiency mode, click on it and click on “Efficiency mode” in the menu.

In my Task Manager menu, the Efficiency Mode button is light gray and nothing happens when I press it.
Even when I press the right mouse button on my program, this button is light gray and therefore does not work.

Hello, not all processes support efficiency mode. You may have selected a process that it does not support. This could be an incompatible process or a system process. There is nothing further that can be changed here. Good luck!
