Keep the web browser up to date with this tip!

Stefan

Just like Microsoft Windows, browsers are regularly abused to install malware. If you accidentally surf to a hacked web page, it is possible that your browser is being misused and malware is being installed through the browser.

In other words, we call “exploiting” the exploitation of a leak in the browser you are currently using.

It is therefore very important to always have the browser and associated plug-ins updated to the latest version.

This will prevent most problems. There is useful software online that checks your current browser for outdated plugins/extensions and/or whether you have the latest version of the browser.

If you do not have the latest version, the software will inform you about this and direct you to a download to the latest version, free of charge.

Keep the browser up to date

  • Using the browser you want to check, go to the following website:
    https://browsercheck.qualys.com/
  • Accept the plugin you want to install Qualys by clicking Install Plugin (it is possible that the page has changed in appearance)

  • Select the Service User Agreement and click Continue

install qualys-browser-plugin

  • Select to install with the message whether you want to install the input application.
  • Allow the program to make changes to your computer.

If Qualys Browser Check shows “Insecure Version” then you have an outdated version of a specific browser or plugin.

Select the blue one Fix It button to be redirected to the page where you can download the latest stable and secure version of the browser or plugin. Do this for everyone that Fix IT represents.

You are now always up to date and will no longer become infected with malware due to an outdated browser. You have significantly reduced the chance.
