Manage or remove autofill in Google Chrome

More and more people are buying online. Buying online is fast and convenient. When you buy products online, you are often asked for personal information such as your credit card number, your address, your telephone number, etc.

To automatically complete this data, Google has included the “Autocomplete” option in Google Chrome.

Autocomplete in Google Chrome is a feature that lets Chrome automatically make suggestions as you type a search query or a web address in the address bar. These suggestions are based on your search and browsing history and can help you navigate to certain websites more quickly and easily.

As indicated, this is especially useful for online purchases on a website, but also useful for having login details automatically filled in.

In this how-to, I'll show you how to manage autofill in Google Chrome.

Autofill in Google Chrome

Open the Google Chrome web browser. Click on the menu icon in the top right corner. In the Chrome menu, click on “Settings”.

Google Chrome settings

Click on “Autofill” in the menu on the left to open the settings.

To start, let's see how to manage saved passwords in Google Chrome.

Password manager

The password manager in Google Chrome is used to securely store and manage your passwords. This feature allows you to autofill your passwords when you log into your accounts on different websites.

If you create a new account on a website and Chrome offers to generate the password for you, you can accept and save the generated password in your password manager. Then when you return to that website, Chrome will ask you if you want the password to be filled in automatically. This makes it easier to access your accounts without having to worry about remembering complicated passwords.

Automatic login

Google Chrome can also help you automatically log in to a website that has a password saved. You can also enable or disable this “automatic login” function as desired.

Check passwords

You can also check the saved passwords in Google Chrome. Password complexity is checked, i.e. how difficult the password is to crack (password strength) and whether the password has been stolen in known online attacks.

View and manage saved passwords

To view the saved passwords online and manage them where necessary, you must log in to the link of your Google account. All saved passwords are not stored in the Google Chrome web browser, but in the linked Google account.

Now let's see how to manage payment methods in Google Chrome.

Payment Methods

Payment Methods in Google Chrome is used to store and use your payment information for quick and easy online payments. This feature allows you to enter payment details such as your credit or debit card details and address details, so you don't have to re-enter them each time you check out for online purchases.

Now let's see how to manage the autofill address information in Google Chrome.

Addresses and more

The “Addresses & more” feature in the autofill settings allows you to manage your saved form data, such as your name, address, phone number, and email address. This can be useful when filling out forms on websites, as you don't have to enter all your details each time.

  1. Dear, after creating an invoice in Moneybird, Chrome always asks if I want to save the address details. I always answer yes because I need this information again in my shipping program. Now Chrome no longer asks this and I have tried everything to solve this but without success. I hope you have a solution.
I have visited your site regularly and often found a solution there 🙂

    1. Hallo,
you can try the following. In the address bar type: chrome://settings/addresses
Check if any data is saved, edit or delete it. It is also possible that a certain extension manages this data (for example a password manager). Good luck!
