iPhone notifications don't go away automatically? Try this!

Notifications are an indispensable feature of an iPhone. These notifications inform us of important information, reminders, updates and messages that we may have missed while our phone was idle.

However, sometimes these notifications do not disappear even after checking them. This can be a common problem for iPhone users, especially since a notification sometimes shows sensitive content that we would rather disappear from the screen as quickly as possible.

There are of course also useful notifications sent via your iPhone. For example, notifications can be useful for receiving immediate information, such as an update from someone you follow on social media.

iPhone notifications can also help you stay organized and productive by reminding you of important events, meetings and deadlines. It is therefore important that you determine per app which notifications you want to continue to see and which notifications you would prefer to disappear automatically over time.

To avoid notifications that don't go away automatically, you can adjust the strip style setting per app on your iPhone. This is how it works.

iPhone notifications do not go away automatically

Open the settings on your iPhone. Then press “Notifications”.

Notifications settings iPhone

In the “notification style” settings you can adjust per app which notifications you do or do not want to disappear automatically. In this example I am using “Calendar”. You choose the app on your iPhone whose notification you want to customize.

Change notification settings per app on iPhone

To make the notification for this app disappear automatically or not, change the “strip style”. Press “Strip style”.

Change strip style on iPhone

Change the strip style from “Permanent” to “Temporary” to make this app's notifications disappear automatically after a few seconds. To prevent the notifications from disappearing automatically, change the stripe style to “permanent”. The notifications will then remain visible on the screen until you close them.
