When you are having trouble with it constantly turning off sleep mode from the computer, then the problem may lie in the connected devices.

Devices connected to your computer can prevent sleep mode or cause the computer to wake from sleep mode. This means that sleep mode may not work properly and you may experience some inconvenience.

In this guide, I'll help you identify which connected devices wake your computer from sleep. This way you can put the computer to sleep and keep it in sleep mode without it being interrupted.

Identify devices that wake your computer from sleep

To start, let's first look at which devices the prevent sleep mode or interrupt. To do this, right-click on the Start button and then click on “Terminal (administrator)”.

Open terminal

In the Terminal window, type the following command:

powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

This command is intended to generate a list of all devices configured to wake the computer from sleep or hibernation. These devices can range from keyboards and mice to network adapters and other peripherals.

Depending on the connected devices or internal hardware, devices are displayed. We need the name of these devices.

powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

Now right click on the Start button and click “Device management” to open device manager.

You now need the previous list of devices that prevent sleep to identify the device in device manager.

Once you have found the device, click on it with the right mouse button. Then click on “Properties” in the menu to open the device properties.

Click on the “Power Management” tab and uncheck the “Allow this device to wake the computer from sleep” option. Confirm with “OK”.

Do this for each device that appears in the previously retrieved list.
