Prompt for Disable Password after Sleep in Windows 11

When your computer comes out of sleep mode, Windows 11 will ask for a password by default. If you are the only user on the computer you will want to disable this password check.

Prompting for a password is a standard security setting in Windows. While this security can be useful in a public or work environment, it is less relevant for the home user.

This feature only works on supported PCs. Don't be surprised if this feature is not enabled on your Windows 11 computer. With supported computers, Windows 11 enters a special power saving mode, Sleep Mode, which is part of the Modern Standby feature. Your computer will return from sleep more quickly than from a cold boot, leaving your previous sessions intact.

Prompt for Disable Password after Sleep

Right-click on the Windows start button. Click on Settings in the menu.

Open Windows settings

Click on Accounts in the left menu. Then click on Login Options.

Sign-in options in Windows 11

Change the setting: When to require a password when you return to the computer to Never. If you require a password again when the computer wakes up from sleep mode, change the setting back to “When the computer wakes up from sleep mode”.

When should a password be required when you return to the computer?

I hope this helped you. Thank you for reading!
