Turn Windows 11 into a mobile hotspot? This is how!

Turn Windows 11 into a mobile hotspot

In an ideal world, you would connect all your devices to one WiFi network and immediately connect to the Internet. However, it doesn't always work that way. There are situations where you don't have that option.

In those situations, you need a way to share the internet via another device, such as a Windows 11 computer or Windows 11 laptop.

You can share your Windows 11 PC's internet connection with other devices via Wi-Fi. This is how to turn Windows 11 into a mobile hotspot. Please note that you need a built-in Wi-Fi adapter or a external Wi-Fi adapter via USB.

Turn Windows 11 into a mobile hotspot

Right-click on the start button. Click on Settings in the menu.

Settings

Click on Network and Internet in the menu on the left. Enable the mobile hotspot function.

Enable mobile hotspot in Windows 11

If the mobile hotspot is enabled, click the Edit button at the bottom to display the network name of the mobile hotspot. You will also see the password here with which you can log in to the Windows 11 mobile hotspot.

To change the network name and password, enter a new SSID (network name) and the desired password. Then click Save.

Windows 11 mobile hotspot login details and SSID

You have now successfully created a mobile hotspot from your Windows 11 computer. I hope this helped you. Thank you for reading!

  1. Hello people,
I have a question about setting up a mobile hotspot on the PC. Can a time lock be added to this or is there another easy way to turn the hotspot on/off (other than via the PC settings). I like to hear it.

  2. Good evening,

I want to use my iPhone 11 phone as a hotspot for my Windows 11 Laptop.
However, I do not see my iPhone in the WiFi environment.
Another iPhone 12 Pro also does not see the laptop.
The phones have been tested with other laptops or iPads. This works perfectly.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Thank you in advance.
    Greetings Will Slenders

    1. Hello, I recommend changing the iPhone name, sometimes a space e.g. “iPhone from …” can be a problem for Windows to connect to a WiFi hotspot. Second, I recommend changing the iPhone hotspot password. These are my two tips! Good luck! Greetings, Stefan

  3. Hello Stefan, is it possible that the hotspot in Windows 11 is automatically activated when I start the PC? I'm almost there by starting the web link 'ms-settings:network-mobilehotspot' when starting the PC, but then I still have to manually set the switch to 'on'. Greetings, Urbain

  4. Good day,
Thank you for the information. It's very clear. However, I have a question about the opposite path.
I have an iPhone 12. I can put it on a hotspot. (It also makes contact with the tablet as such. However, I cannot find this on the laptop with Windows 11. So I cannot use the hotspot. Do you have an iPhone XNUMX for this? solution?
    Kind regards.

    1. Hello Jan, if I understand correctly, the laptop cannot connect to the hotspot of your phone? Or can't find the hotspot? Turning Wi-Fi on and off on the laptop can help, as can a restart. Unfortunately I cannot assess hardware or settings via the internet. Greetings, Stefan.
