Establishing a secure connection SOLUTION – Google Chrome

Establishing a secure connection, timeout error message or web pages not loading? – If you notice one or more of these issues in Google Chrome, follow the instructions below to resolve the issue.

Problems regularly arise after software updates, including Google Chrome. The problems you experience range from a timeout error message to a website with https (a secure connection) that hangs on establishing a secure connection status in Google Chrome while loading.

It is important to note that the problems only occur in Google Chrome. You can do this by using another web browser such as Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer or Firefox and check whether the URL can be visited without any problems.

If you have found that the timeout, secure connection issues only occur in Google Chrome, continue.

Several methods are offered to resolve connection issues in Google Chrome, for example, checking that a proxy server is not being used, repairing Google Chrome, disabling the Windows Firewall, and reinstalling Google Chrome.

If the problem persists, you can follow the instructions below to see if this resolves the secure connection, timeout, or other connection issues in Chrome.

Establish a secure connection solution for Google Chrome

Change Cryptographic Services (CryptSvc service) to a Local Account

Right-click the Windows start button, select Command-Prompt (Admin) from the start menu. An MS-DOS window will now open with Administrator rights.

In the MS-DOS prompt window, type: services.msc. Services.msc is a management console for Windows to manage the services that Windows uses.

In the Services Management console, look for the service called CryptSVC (Cryptographic Services). Right-click on the CryptSvc service and select Properties from the menu. You can also double-click on the Cryptographic Services to open the Properties.

Go to CryptSvc's Login tab and change the user from Network Service (under This Account) to Local System Account. Click Apply, then OK, ignoring any notifications you get from the service.

Now restart the computer and check if the error message such as establishing a secure connection, timeouts, or web pages not loading completely in Google Chrome is resolved.

Disable hardware acceleration in Google Chrome

Google Chrome is expanded as standard with the option to support hardware acceleration. In this way, Google Chrome can effectively use the computer hardware and, where necessary, use this hardware to load web pages faster.

Hardware acceleration in Google Chrome can also cause problems if, for example, the CPU Hardware is very strong and the rest of the hardware is less strong. This can cause Google Chrome to become unstable and therefore freeze or load pages partially or not at all.

Disable hardware acceleration in Google Chrome and see if this resolves the issues you are experiencing in Google Chrome.

Open Google Chrome, in the navigation bar type: chrome://settings/ at the top of the search bar type: hardware.

Now enable the option “use hardware acceleration when available” and restart Google Chrome. Check if Establishing a Secure Connection, Timeout issues with Google Chrome are resolved.
