If you Windows 11 is about to install then you must enter a username for a local account. If you add a Microsoft account in Windows, the username will be in Windows the name of the Microsoft account.
Some people want to change the name of this account after creating a username. It is relatively simple to change a username in Windows 11.
Change username in Windows 11
The easiest way to change a username in Windows 11 is through the Control Panel. Please note that this involves changing a username for a local account.
If you wish to change a Microsoft account name, please read in this article how to do that.
To begin open the control panel. In the control panel, click on “User Accounts”.
Then click on “User Accounts” again.
Then click “Change your account name” to change the name of the local user account.
Then enter a new account name and click the “Change Name” button. This name appears on the login screen and on the Home screen.
You have now successfully changed your username in Windows 11. In the same way you can also do it change account type in windows 11.
I hope this helped you. Thank you for reading!
Hello, I'm French, I have had to transfer files to a new PC. I get the same folder name several times in explorer. Can I delete it by changing the folder name so that only 1 folder remains, those files are on a separate hard drive. Or how do I best do that? Thank you very much for your advice. Greetings, Frans

Dear, thanks for the info because I want to change the name of my account as administrator, but ... where you get "change account name" in your 3rd screenshot is "change account type" and so I cannot change the NAME.
Do you have a solution?
Yours faithfully,

Hello, this is a local account. If you have a Microsoft account, read this: https://www.pc-tips.info/tips/windows-tips/naam-van-microsoft-account-wijzigen/
If you are using a local account. You can read more ways in the next article. I would use the method (option 4) via “netplwiz”: https://www.pc-tips.info/tips/windows-tips/7-manieren-om-een-gebruikersnaam-te-wijzigen-in-windows/#Gebruikersnaam_wijzigen_van_een_lokaal_account_via_Netplwiz
Good luck! Greetings, Stefan
Fine, successful. Thank you
Glad it worked! Thanks for your comment 🙂
I have changed the local username, which I also see when starting the PC. The strange thing is that when I access the PC via RDP, I still have to use the old username. can this also be adjusted?
