In general, the system product name is the model name of your computer. If you buy a laptop or Surface from a manufacturer, you will see their company name as the product name. An OEM will usually specify the system product name and usually you cannot change the system product name.

If you are building a custom assembled PC then there is usually no system product name, by default OEM will automatically assign the default product name. If you want you can change this product name, in this article you can read how to change the system product name in Windows.

Change OEM model name in Windows 10 or Windows 11

To change the OEM model name, an adjustment must be made in the Windows registry. I recommend you do one first create a restore point before proceeding with the adjustment.

Open it Windows Registry. Go via the left to the next key.

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\OEMInformation

Double-click the string value named “Model” and enter a new model name.

If the string value “Model” does not exist, right-click on free space on the right. In the menu, click New and then click String Value. Name this value “Model” and enter a new OEM model name.

You will immediately see the new OEM model name in the system overview of your computer.
