Overflow menu - disable system tray in Windows 11

The overflow menu, also known as the system tray Windows 11, hides icons that do not require immediate attention. The overflow menu appears as an arrow pointing up.

In Windows 11, the arrow pointing up means that the user can click on it to display the underlying icons. If you are someone who likes to keep an overview and want to disable the system tray, you will have to set all underlying icons so that they are always displayed.

Showing every single icon in the overflow menu disables the notification area in Windows 11. I have added two images to clarify what you will be adjusting.

Click on free space on the taskbar. In the menu, click on taskbar settings.

Open taskbar settings

As indicated in the introduction text. Every single one icon should be displayed in the settings overflow menu. Showing all icons will make the overflow menu disappear.

Click the arrow to display the “Overflow menu in the corner of the taskbar” icons. Then change all icons to “on”. After this you will see that the overflow menu is disabled.
