Dear Stephen
Despite your guidelines to get my trash icon back on my desktop, I am unable to do so. I don't have any icons on my desktop. Apparently I accidentally changed a setting a few weeks ago.
Hello, you can try the following. Right-click on the desktop. In the menu, click on “image” and then on “show desktop icons”.

Good luck! Greetings, Stefan
The recycle bin icon on your desktop allows you to consult the contents of your recycle bin. But can you also drag (i.e. move) folders or files to the trash can icon on your desktop?
Hello, yes you can. You can drag a file/folder/shortcut with the mouse to the trash icon. The file is then moved to the trash.
Greetings, Stefan
