Disable Windows security notifications in Windows 11

De notifications that Windows security shows are generally useful. If you find them less useful, you can disable Windows security notifications.

Windows security notifications are intended to alert you to potential security risks, such as malware or viruses. The notifications can also inform you about available security updates and patches for your computer help protect against potential threats.

If you have installed another antivirus or security package, the Windows security messages may be less relevant. You can also disable these notifications.

To completely disable Windows security notifications, you must make an adjustment to the Windows registry. There is no option in the security settings of Windows 11 to stop showing the notifications.

Disable Windows security notifications in Windows 11

Please note that if you disable notifications in Windows Security using the steps below, you will no longer receive any notifications. This means that you will not receive a notification during a virus scan, virus detection or if a security component no longer works or has been disabled. In the event of a virus notification, Windows immediately moves the harmful file to Quarantine and you will therefore not receive a notification.

To begin open the Windows registry. Go to the key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows Defender Security Center\Notifications\

Right-click on the “Notifications” folder and click “New” and “DWORD 32-bit value”. Name this value “DisableNotifications”. Double-click the new value and set the value data to “1” instead of “0”.

Now go to key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\

Right-click on the “Microsoft” folder and click “New” and then “Key”. Name this key “Windows Defender Security Center”.

Right-click on “Windows Defender Security Center” again and click “New” and then key. Name this key “Notifications”.

Now right-click on the “Notifications” folder and click on “New” and on “DWORD 32-bit value”. Name this value “DisableNotifications” and change the value data to “1” instead of “0”.

Right-click on the “Notifications” folder again and click “New” and “DWORD 32-bit Value”. Name this value “DisableEnhancedNotifications” and change the value data to “1” instead of “0”.

Close the Windows registry and restart your computer. You have now disabled all Windows security notifications in Windows 11.
