The language bar (“language switcher”) is displayed if you have multiple keyboard layouts has set in Windows 11. It is a shortcut to quickly switch keyboard layouts via input methods and is displayed in the taskbar by default.
When the language bar is displayed on the desktop, you will see a floating bar on the desktop with the keyboard languages installed in Windows 11. By clicking on it you can open the language bar options, minimize the language bar or move it to another part of the desktop.
If you want to know how to hide or remove this language bar, follow the steps below.
Hide Language Bar (Language Switcher) on Desktop in Windows 11
Right-click on the Start button. In the menu click on Settings. On the left in the settings, click on “time and language”. Then click on “Type” in the right-hand section.
The options for the language bar can be found in the “advanced keyboard settings”, click on it to open.
To change the language bar back to the language bar, i.e. disable it on the desktop, uncheck the option “Use the desktop language bar when it is available”.
You will see that the language bar with input methods is now back in the taskbar.
If you click on “language bar options” you can change additional options for the language bar with input methods.
Here's how to display the language bar floating on the desktop. Hide the language bar. Show the language bar transparently when it is not active, show icons of additional languages on the taskbar, and show text labels on the language bar.
