Windows 11 also offers users “Scheduled Automatic Maintenance”. This includes several background tasks and runs them all at once at a scheduled time, scheduled maintenance is scheduled at 2am by default.
The automatic maintenance activity that Windows 11 automatically performs is set to run for only 1 hour. That means that if for some reason the task is not completed within that period, Windows 11 will stop and run the task during the next maintenance period.
For example, if your computer is turned off at the scheduled time, the maintenance task will not run and Windows will run that task in the next available period when your computer is not in use.
This includes the following tasks that Windows 11 performs within this scheduled time: Windows updates, security scans, and other system diagnostics.
This task is enabled by default on every Windows 11 computer, and Microsoft recommends that you do not change these settings. But if your PC remains turned off at 2am every day, this maintenance activity will never be performed. Therefore, Microsoft has provided an option to change the time of the scheduled maintenance activity.
Schedule automatic maintenance in Windows 11
Open it Control Panel. Click System and Security, then click Security and Maintenance. Click on “Maintenance” and then click on “Change maintenance settings”.
Change the daily maintenance tasks by selecting a time. If your computer now goes into sleep mode during the set time period, you can enable the option “Allow the computer to wake up from sleep mode at the scheduled time for scheduled maintenance”.
This way you can have planned maintenance carried out, even if your computer is in sleep mode went. Click OK to confirm.
