De regional institutions determine how the date format is displayed in Windows 11. The date format is displayed depending on the settings applied in the short date format and the long date format.
For example, Windows 11 uses a “-” separator in the short date format. You can adjust this as desired. For example, you can apply a “/” slash to it.
If you prefer the date format to be a shows the day of the week instead of a number as the date, you can also set this.
There are two ways to change the date format in Windows 11. The first is through the settings and the second is through the control panel. I explain both in this article.
Change date format in Windows 11
Change date format via settings
Right-click on the Start button. Then click on Settings in the menu. Click on “time and language” on the left and then on “language & region” on the right.
Click on the arrow to the right of “regional settings” to open these settings. At the very bottom, click on “change layout”.
Now you can choose a format for the short date and for the long date. You will immediately see the change in the date format at the bottom right of the system tray.
Change date format via Control Panel
You can also use the control panel to change the date format in Windows 11.
Open the control panel. Then click “change the date, time, or number format.”
Here too you can change the long date format and the short date format by choosing from the list.
Then click on the “more settings” button.
Click on the “date” tab and change the date format for the short and long format as you want the date format to be displayed in Windows 11.
