Use the PrtScn button to take screenshots

If you have a lot of screenshots works, you can use the PrtScn “print screen” button in Windows 11 to open the new snipping program.

By default, if you do not enable this feature, a screenshot will be taken of the entire screen and then transferred to the clipboard copied. To save the screenshot, you will need to paste the image into a program such as Microsoft Paint or Microsoft Word and then save it as an image file such as JPG, PNG or BMP.

With the updated snipping tool you can capture the entire screen, part of the screen via your own selection or a window. You can then edit this screenshot in the app itself.

If you work a lot with screenshots, it may be more convenient to use the Snipping Tool to determine which screen or part of the screen you record via the PrtScn button on your keyboard.

In this article you can read how you can have the snipping program open or not by pressing the print screen button on your keyboard.
