Disable startup apps in Windows 11

One of the most frustrating issues you can encounter on your Windows 11 computer is non-essential apps automatically launching at startup. And too many such apps can negatively impact system performance, which ultimately Windows 11 slow makes.

There are a number of apps that you will want to start as soon as Windows 11 starts. These are apps like antivirus, webcam software, etc. However, there are other apps that sneak into the Windows startup routine and consume system resources and geheugen consume. It is advisable to check the bootable apps in Windows 11. If you find apps here that do not have immediate priority during startup, disable these apps.

Here you will see a list of the apps installed on your computer. These apps in the Startup list will start as soon as Windows 11 also starts. Below the on/off button you will see an “influence” that the app has on the performance of your Windows 11 computer.

Based on the influence, you can quickly make a decision to disable the app during Windows startup. You can have one disable app by clicking the on/off button. If the button shows “On” this means that the app is started with Windows and “off” means that the app is no longer started with Windows.

  1. How do I do this with apps that I installed myself? such as steam and ea, they are not listed there and I cannot turn it off in the app itself.
    kind regards, laura

    1. Hello, you usually look for that in the settings of the app itself. Here's an example for Steam:

      Success!

  2. After Windows 11 update (Build 25193), a number of startup apps are always disabled by Windows. When I turn them on again, they disappear again after the next start, they are not always the same start-up apps, but that varies.

    1. Hello, build 25193 of Windows 11 is an insider build. This means a test version, which may be a disadvantage of using an insider build. I don't have a solution like that.
      Greetings, Stefan
